Delhi, NY (WBNG Binghamton) There's been quite a bit of reason to celebrate in Harpursville the last couple of weeks.

And the community has the football team to thank.

The Hornets captured their first Section 4 division title with a 44-16 victory over Delhi.

It comes just one week after the Hornets secured their first winning season in 27 years with a win over Class D power Walton.

Now, the Hornets are hungry to take the next step, advancing through the playoffs.

Coach Tim Petras says he couldn't be more proud of his team and what they've accomplished.

"It means so much to this team, it means so much to these kids, it means so much to this community and these kids, for the rest of their lives, anytime they set food in that gym, I hope they think back to all they went through for the season and something they can hold for themselves for a long time," says Petras.

"It's amazing. My senior year, last regular season game ever. It's awesome...I couldn't be more proud," says senior running back Mason Dean.

Section 4 has not yet released the playoff matchups for class D which will be held Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

Everyone one else has one week left in the regular season.
