Harpursville earns place in State Finals

Miranda Drummond started red-hot, but it was Harpursville's Shelby Medovich who helped shoot the Hornets past Alexander Hamilton 61-53 in the New York State Class C Semifinals Saturday afternoon.

Medovich pitched in 21 points for the Hornets, as Harpursville beat the previously top-ranked team in the state.

Drummond also added in a team-high 24 points for the Hornets. She had 14 of those 24 in the first quarter to help put Harpursville out in front early. From then on, the Hornets took every shot from Alexander Hamilton, holding on for the eight point victory.

Harpursville now moves onto the state championship Sunday afternoon at 1:45 at Hudson Valley Community College.
