Spencer, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Spencer Van-Etten Panthers are looking to improve on a 4 and 5 season.
And it's going to take a little work.
Coaches say this year's team is very young.
They've got a new running back in Gino Leonardi, who didn't play last year.
And a new quarterback, Kyle Pierce.
"We've been working with him a real lot over the winter and he's been throwing a lot and working on patterns. He went to camps and stuff so he's going to be able to slide right in. I don't have any concerns about that," says head coach Sam Davison.
"I'm very confident in his ability and we had a good quarterback last year, Sean Burne, very athletic, can run and throw but this year, I think Kyle Pierce will do just as well and we've been working all summer to improve our passing game and I think we'll do that," says junior tight end Elijah Weaver.
Spencer Van-Etten opens up its season at home against rival
Candor in the battle for the jug.
The game is Friday, September 2nd.
