BINGHAMTON (WBNG BINGHAMTON) Lock down defense catapulted the Norwich boys to their third consecutive Section IV title in Class B. The Purple Tornado allowed just 28 points en route to a 40-28 win over Oneonta.
"We play a lot of defense," said junior Zan Stewart. "We do a lot of that in practice. If you want to play on the court you got to play defense in order to play."
"The one thing I was really impressed with in the second half, there was a loose ball and we had four guys diving on the floor for it and that's the type of team we are," said coach Tom Collier. "We're a lunch pail team. We bring it every night. We play as hard as we can. Defense wins championships and that's what we won with tonight, our defense."
Norwich now gets the top-ranked team in Class B, Westhill.
