Conklin, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Susquehanna Valley Sabers are coming off a successful season that saw them go 6 and 2.

But coach Kevin Wagstaff says last season doesn't matter, and he has his boys focused on the season ahead.

The Sabers lost a lot of players from last year's team, but the cupboard isn't bare at SV.

The team returns 6 starters on offense, but its breaking in a new quarterback and some new lineman.

Even still, the team looks to pound the football, with senior Laurent Dure and sophomore Jimmy Mitchell.

"We're trying to hit you on both sides. We're still trying to determine who will be our fullback and we always go with a compliment of 3 backs. Last year, we had 3 really nice running backs so we spread the ball around well. We averaged 6.3 yards per carry last year and I'm looking to do the same or increase what we did last year," Wagstaff says.

"It's definitely good. It does help a lot for what we can do on the offense and we're going to gain a lot of yards and get a lot of points for it," says senior lineman Sam Siskin.

SV starts its season on Saturday, September 3rd, when it hosts Norwich.
