Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Miranda Drummond and Jordan Beers scored double-digit points in both games for the Southern Tier girls squad as they went 2-0 in the first day of action at the BCANY Summer Hoops Festival.

Drummond, the soon-to-be senior from Harpursville, led the way in both games with 19 and 21 points respectively against the Central region and Mid Hudson team.

On the flip side, things were a little more difficult for the Southern Tier boys team on Friday.

The Southern Tier started strong against both Central and Mid Hudson only to fall in both games.

The Central region, made up of players from Syracuse and Utica, blew away the Southern Tier in the second half to win 77-44.

In their last game of the night, the Southern Tier boys team led into the second half, but was outdone by the team from Mid Hudson 79-77.

Both the guys and girls teams get back into action throughout the day on Saturday. The championship and consolation games are set to take place on Sunday.
