Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A dozen local softball teams will hit the diamond this weekend to battle each other AND cancer.
Union-Endicott has teamed up with the American Cancer Society to host the annual Mary Testa memorial tournament.
It's named after U-E varsity softball coach Jim Testa's mother, who lost her battle to cancer.
Testa says the tournament touches everyone.
And adds local teams are more than excited to compete in the event.
Because of the weather, this year's tournament will be held Saturday, April 30th at Vestal high school, Maine-Endwell high school and Newark Valley high school.
Games will start at 10:00 am and should run through about 6:00 pm.
All money raised through the event will go to the local chapter of the American Cancer society.
In the past, the tournament usually raises 25 hundred to 3 thousand dollars through t shirt and concession sales.
