Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Union-Endicott's Alexis Eastman tossed a one-hitter on Saturday in the Class AA sectional finals. A performance that allowed the Tigers to move on into states, and a group of seniors to keep playing together.
For the second straight year U-E won a Section IV title. This time around though a core group of seniors are fighting to keep their softball careers together alive.
With one loss now, years of playing together will come to an end for a very tight-knit team.
"I mean this is the best team I think I've ever played on, we all click so well as a team," said catcher Karleigh Eaton. "We're all just really confident in each other and we trust each other so I think that's really important in a team."
"I definitely think it's because we've been playing with each other forever," said shortstop Skyler Hoyt. "With Lex, Karleigh, we've been together since modified and everything, JV through varsity."
"You're playing out there with your best friends," said Eastman. "It's so fun to come to practice every day and see every body. It's just so much fun."
U-E plays Section 1 winner John Jay on Thursday at North Rockland.
