Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The time is ticking away leading up to UFC 159 where Jon Jones will fight Chael Sonnen in Newark, NJ. It's also the final days of preparation for both camps.
WBNG caught up with professional mixed martial arts fighter and CNY MMA Co-Founder Tamdan McCrory to talk about what the final few days leading up to a fight are like.
"About ten days out at the max, that's about your last really hard workout," said McCrory. "Pretty much after about ten days closer to the fight, the majority of the workouts that your doing is really keeping with the cardio and really the visualization of what you plan on doing in the fight."
At this point in the training both Jones and Sonnen are likely just fine-tuning what they've worked on for the past few months. McCrory, who has had six fights in the UFC, said it's all about being mentally ready to fight come Saturday.
"We're at Wednesday right now, I'm assuming Jon's got his last actual technical workout that he's going to do right now," said McCrory. "Probably pad work, working on the things that he's been doing with his camp. I'm sure that he's having his last minute kind of crash course, going through the motions, making sure he breaks a good sweat."
Jones and Sonnen will meet the media on Thursday for Media Day in New York City, before the two have the weigh-in on Friday at the Prudential Center.
