"this is my 7th year at BCC, and this ius the best start we've ever had."
The Hornets have no players ranked in the nation's top 25 in either scoring or rebounding. What they have is the 3rd ranked team in America, and one of the stingiest defenses around.
Alyssa Polosky says, " Our coach says rest on offense, and play on defense. We strive off our defense. If we have a good defensive possession we have a good offensive possession."
" It all starts with Finkle on top with the deflections," says coach Mike Huggler. "The post players do a great job. So I'm pretty pleased with how the defense has evolved."

One of the post players is also one of the few returning players on this year's team.
Erica Puffer is working back from a knee injury, and back into basketball shape after winning a national championship on the soccer field.

" It's been hard. The conditioning is a lot different. Sprinting a lot more. I think I've transitioned well and am ready to get back a starting spot."
" Every game she's playing more and more. She's doing some great things for us. Even at Mohawk she only had 2 points, but just her presence inside is so important to us."
They may not run as much as they used to, or score as many points. What they do is win, every single time.
