"Jess Laing does do everything. She's inside. She can hit the threes. She's a very good defender."
And the SUNY Cortland sophomore has been doing everything at a record-setting pace. Laing has already become the first Red Dragon underclassmen to pass the one-thousand point mark and led the SUNYAC in scoring and rebounding. She's did all of that while being the focus of every team's defensive strategy.
Laing stormed onto campus last year earning SUNYAC rookie of the year honors. That early success surprised Laing, especially coming from tiny South Kortright where she led the Rams to the Class "D" state title while earning MVP honors. But it was her high school days that helped develop her ability to score from the inside and the outside.
Laing's only halfway through her college career which means she still has two more years to frustrate opponents. Few have been able to stop her so far so to level the playing field... a few pointers.
In the game and quickly moving up the record book, Jessica Laing can do just about everything. In Cortland, Justin Horowitz, Action Sports.
