Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton)
From high school wrestling state champion to future NFL player, Arthur Jones is living the life millions dream of, but precious few realize.
The former Syracuse standout wrapped up his career as a two-time All Big East first-team selection and could become the first Broome County native to be an NFL First-Round draft pick.
Art says, "It'd be amazing, even getting drafted in the 5th or 7th round or free agent, it's a blessing in the skies. Our family's definitely blessed."
These days, Art and his girlfriend are living in Arizona.
Art's working out full-time at a high-performance training center, preparing for the all-important pre-Draft workouts and tests.
"It's like a whole other world as far as what I'm eating, I have a nutritionist now, and as far as training goes. We're up at certain times. We're sleeping at certain times. I didn't know how important stretching was to getting faster, stronger."
Thoughts of bench presses and shuttle runs were put aside for Christmas.
Art was back home in Endicott, opening presents and joking around with his two younger brothers...
Jon the budding superstar in the world of mixed martial arts and Chandler, himself a Syracuse football player.
With athletic careers to focus on, brotherly bonding is far more rare these days.
But Christmas was the perfect time to remember those epic childhood battles.
"A lot of fighting...
"Yeah, oh yeah... Just for the record, me and Chandler would kick Arthur's butt all the time...
"They had to jump me, never one-on-one... It was very competitive, whatever it was, for a spot on the controller in video games to the last cookie, it was always a fight over it."
His brother Jon adds, "And we can see who always got the last cookie..."
That 6-foot-3, 295-pound body has given Arthur the chance to live out his dreams.
And when he signs his first NFL contract, expect him to share the wealth.
"I owe my mom a million dollars, she already claimed that so I think that's the biggest toy... and I think Chandler wants a nice car, so I don't know, I'm going to take care of everyone else first and then I'll worry about, I haven't figured that out yet."
He'll have plenty of time to do that as his magical NFL ride is only beginning.
