While one season begins, plenty of others are coming to a close.
The end of the fall sports season will be here for all but a few by the end of this week.
As section 4 champions are set to be crowned, we take a look at one standout squad on the volleyball court.
This week we shine the action sports spotlight on the Owego Indians.

" Definitely we are overlooked. I think we have a lot to offer but we just come out and show them we have a lot to offer. "
The Indians have been a handful for any opponent this season as they have stormed out to a perfect start, last week capturing the STAC title in the process.
Not bad for a team that has just one senior and starts a freshman.

" We just worked as hard as we could. We wanted to be 16-0 because Owego always starts 16-0 and we wanted to get Owego back on top, so that's what we're doing."

Coach Brittany Horton says, " I graduated from Owego, I played for Owego all the way up through. I kind knew the tradition of this program and what this program was capable of doing. But being a part of the JV program last year really gave me a good foundation of what my kids could offer and then what we could bring forward to varsity. "

Horton's background goes a little deeper. She took over as head coach from her mom, Pam Horton.

" I call her a lot, and she still comes to all the home games. So she's always around to talk to."

The new Horton on the bench has coached most of the varsity players at the club level, and they say, she knows all the right buttons to push.

" We're kind of used to her, but she pushes us. She's one of the reasons why we're doing as well as we are. She pushes us. Even when we're playing teams that don't really have as much skill level, she pushes us."

They may be a young group, but they're not hoping to be good next year. They want to be great right now.

Stephanie Raftis says, " I wasn't expecting the year to be like this, but I wouldn't want it any different."
