Town of Chenango, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Chenango Forks senior Cody DeOrdio is a self proclaimed sports fanatic. The two sport varsity athlete says his favorite sport is lacrosse, which he has been playing since he was 5 years old.

"Excelling in it is fun," said DeOrdio. "I just like watching the game is fun. Playing the game is fun. I just enjoy it."

DeOrdio is a three year member of the lacrosse team and a 2 year starter at attack and midfield. The last two seasons, he was named to the all conference teams, and led his team in scoring. This season, one of his best games was against Seton when he netted 7 goals in a victory.

"He has added a lot to the offense feeding the ball, shooting the ball so he's definitely going to be tough to replace," said coach David Pavlic.

DeOrdio says his favorite subject in school is math, which is fitting with all the numbers he puts up on the lacrosse field. He carries a 90 average and is headed to SUNY Cortland in the fall, to major in sports administration. DeOrdio also hopes to continue his playing career for one of the best lacrosse programs in Division 3.

"It's going to be a big challenge," said DeOrdio. "It's going to be a lot of hard work involved, dedication and determination over the summer just to make the team and work my way up from there."

A stellar student and an even better athlete, that's why Chenango Forks senior Cody DeOrdio is this week's Academic All-Star.
