Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It was a scary day for many people across the country who are from, or knew people in Boston. That was the case for B-Mets reliever Jack Leathersich, who is from Massachusetts.

Leathersich spent the afternoon calling family and friends who were at the Boston Marathon this afternoon when two bombs went off. According to him, everyone he knows is ok, but it was something he just could not believe.

"I mean I've been to the Boston Marathon. It's one of the happiest, most cheerful day in Boston. Everybody goes to the Marathon and watches, has a few drinks and has some fun," said Leathersich. "That's kind of why it's so crazy because whoever did it picked the day that was the worst."

The Boston Red Sox Double-A affiliate, Portland, is in town for the series with the B-Mets. After Monday's game the team said it actually hadn't had the chance to see much coverage of the events because of travel and batting practice. However, the team was still in disbelief after hearing some of what happened.
