A snow day at the end of a three day weekend made for the perfect storm for ski fans.
There is plenty of fresh snow and open trails all across the area, and this week we head out to Platekill Mountain for our BNG bargains ski tip.
Today Technical Director Ken Kimball gives us a quick lesson on how to control our speed on the slopes.
We are going to speak to you today about how to control your speed. You may find that you're going a little faster than you want , or little faster than what is safe.
So we're in work on some strategies to start a round out our turns. So that we can control our speed in all-terrain.
There are a lot of ways to do that.
One of the easiest ways is to start to make round turns.
Now, if you want to look down here at the snow. I'm going to draw a little picture. Many people when they're turning. They don't really turn, they just kind of go straight and just change directions.
What we try to get our skiers to do is to make round turns. "C" shaped turns, so that you turn your tips to face the woods on each turn.
These round turns control your speed so that you're going the same speed at the top as you are at the middle and as you are at the end of the slope.
We hope to see you at Plattekill real soon. And here's how you can join us using the BNG bargains
