Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The BU men's basketball team returns last year's freshman phenom Jordan Reed to the court this season, but Reed was left hungry by his first year in green and white.
Reed finished the year first in the America East in rebounding and second in the conference in scoring, but those impressive numbers didn't garner a First Team All-Conference selection.
Despite being named to the Preseason All-Conference team prior to the start of this year, last season's "snub" continues to drive Reed on and off the court.
"It drove me crazy, you know what I mean," Reed said at Bearcats media day. "Just thinking to myself that I'm the best, one of the best in the America East, certainly the first team. It just made me think that I've got to go out and work that much harder to prove to whoever that I'm first team material."
"I think just developing chemistry with his teammates, shooting the ball a little big more consistently when teams play three and four steps off him will make him much harder to guard," coach Tommy Dempsey said about how Reed can improve.
One of those teammates is the team's leading scorer Rob Mansell, who returns after missing last season due to injury.
Dempsey said the combination of the two will only give the team more options for a "go-to" player.
