A shot by B-H-S grad Jimmy Gray with two seconds left Saturday afternoon left Maine stunned, and gave Binghamton its first conference win of the Tommy Dempsey era. It's also maybe just the shot in the arm the Bearcats need to get moving back in the right direction.
Saturday's win over Maine snapped a 12-game losing streak, and marked BU's first road win of the entire season. Now that the losing streak is out of the way, BU has its sights set on continuing to grow towards March and the America East Tournament. However, the most important thing the win did, was give this team some confidence.
"We've got to continue to stay positive, but it was great for us because nobody wants to be in a losing streak and this kind of gives us a start," said Gray.
"Pressure mounts with every performance when you're on a long losing streak and I thought there was a little bit of a pin in the balloon, released a little bit of pressure," said Dempsey. "We've been good, we've been loose this week, I think our confidence is a little bit better. Just coming off a win you just kind of enjoy each other a little bit more."
The Bearcats now have a few more days of practice before hosting New Hampshire Saturday at the Events Center.
