Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The B-Sens have gone from being the hottest team in the AHL to the coldest in the span of just a couple of weeks. Binghamton is winless in its last 7 games, but maybe the return of a veteran leader can turn things around this weekend.
Nathan Lawson has missed the last four games with an injury and then the flu. However, after returning to practice this week, coach Luke Richardson is confident he'll be back in the line-up this weekend.
According to Richardson, the team misses more than just his play between the pipes when he's not on the ice.
"Do we miss him? We miss him more than just in the nets," Richardson said. "He's one of our few veteran guys and he's very calm and he talks to the players and they respect him and look up to him. So we miss him around the dressing room and I think he even realizes that he misses being that presence because he asked to come on the road trip on Saturday to Hershey. Just having him around I think helps."
Richardson discusses current losing streak
Lawson has not gotten a win in the cage since November 22nd.
The B-Sens travel to Syracuse on Friday before hosting Albany this coming Saturday night.
