Hancock, Seton advance with dominant pitching

Town of Dickinson (WBNG BINGHAMTON) Ryan Smith hurled a no-hitter to guide the Hancock Wildcats past Oriskany, 2-0, and into the Class D baseball semifinals Saturday at SUNY Broome.

Battery mate Eli Holton provided the big hit of the game, an RBI triple in the third inning to give Hancock a 1-0 lead. He later scored on a wild pitch.

Hancock advances to play Section 10 winner Heuvelton Central, Saturday June 14, 1 p.m. at SUNY Broome.

Not to be outdone, Michael Korchak tossed a complete game shutout, tallying 14 strikeouts along the way, to lead Seton Catholic past South Lewis, 4-0, at Onondaga Community College.

The Saints' Class C championship defense continues against Hoosic Valley in the semifinal at Conlon Field in Binghamton, June 14, next Saturday.

In Class A, Maine-Endwell's season ended with a 12-0 defeat to Rye.

In Class B, Susquehanna Valley was trumped by Clinton, 3-2.
