Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Section IV football has not had a back to back state champion since Chenango Forks pulled off the feat in 2003 and 2004.
The Maine-Endwell Spartans would like to see that streak come to an end.
The Spartans are headed to the Carrier Dome this weekend with their eyes on the Class B state title.
This comes just one year after the Spartans took home the class A title.
This game is a little extra special for several of the players on the roster.
It'll be the last time they wear the blue and gold for ME.
"It's my senior year so I always want that one more game because I don't know if I'm going to be playing football after this, no one does, so that one more game is going to be special for all of us, especially to win a state championship," says senior running back Justin Jacoby.
"That makes all the seniors work even harder because we understand its going to be our last high school game and we've got to go at it exactly like its our last and we understand the expectations and high intensity we have to bring and I think we're going to do a great job bringing that intensity," says senior Nick Sorrenti.
The Spartans will take on Glens Falls on Saturday at 3:00 pm in the Carrier Dome.
Glens Falls is ranked 5th in New York State.
