Greene, NY (WBNG Binghamton) They haven't had a losing season in eight years. But now they have a new head coach, and several positions to fill heading into the season.
The Greene Trojans were hit hard by graduation, losing most of their offensive line and several key weapons on that side of the ball.
And head coach Tim Paske stepped down after the season.
New head coach Dave Gorton has spent time on the Greene staff and knows the kids well.
He says they have several players that could fill in those gaps and feels the competition for playing time will only help the Trojans down the line.
"We've got a lot of competition for positions this year and everyone's looking good. Hopefully, we'll have a great time by week 1," said fullback Joel Roselole.
"We've emphasized to the kids this year how important it is to know multiple positions. We're not a big school. We don't have 40 kids on the sidelines so we have to rely on our knowledge to create our depth and the kids are really studying hard to make that happen," says head coach Dave Gorton.
Greene went 6-3 last season, but missed out on the playoffs.
They start their quest for a playoff berth by travelling to Bainbridge-Guilford in week one.
