(WBNG Binghamton) Her favorite basketball player is LeBron James, but really, he's no role model.

After all King James is just a 74% free throw shooter.

10-year-old Grace Thomas is looking to put up much better numbers at the elks Hoop Shoot national finals.

Brendan O'Reilly takes a look at this young hot-shot before she shoots for a national title.

" I just shoot and it goes in..."

The strategy really is that simple for 4th grader Grace Thomas.

After winning state and regional hoop shoot titles, she will now shoot for a national title at the basketball hall of fame in Springfield Massachusetts.

"This was my goal. Last year I made it to regionals but I lost...."

She plays basketball on a local team, but she says volleyball is her favorite sport.

What she lives for is the competition, like at this year's regional finals.

"It's fun....and nervous. I was afraid I might lose," she says.

It was close. She watched as her main competition made her first 10 shots.

Grace was counting the baskets and knew exactly what she needed to do to win.

And she did it.

The next step is on April 30th, where Grace will face off against 11 other girls in the 10-11 age bracket.

She practices, either in the gym or on the family driveway with her older brother.

And Grace is sticking with the simple strategy that has taken her this far.

" Just dribble three times and shoot. It's easy....real easy," she says.
