Corning, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A soldier killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan returned home to Corning on Tuesday.
Army Specialist Ryan Jayne was killed by a roadside bomb along with two other soldiers last Saturday.
Jayne's body was flown to the Elmira-Corning airport and was transported to Corning East High School where calling hours ran from 4:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday night.
A military service on the football field followed.
Jayne was a part of the 178th Engineer Battalion based out of Oswego.
He spent a year at Corning Community College before en-listing.
