Troy, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Maine-Endwell held a nine point lead after the first quarter, led by three at half and four heading into the fourth, but Pittsford Sutherland mounted a comeback and ended the Spartans season with a 43-39 victory on Friday.

The M-E girl's basketball team was vying for a spot in its second straight Class A state title game.

Senior Julie Yacovoni led the Spartans with 11 points, as sophomore Daniella Dean pitched in 10.

It's the end of an era for Maine-Endwell as eight girls played their final basketball game in a Spartan uniform on Friday afternoon at Hudson Valley Community College.

"While you want your results to obviously turn out better, you gave everything," answered coach Sonny Spera when he was asked about what he told his team. "That's why it hurts so much. When you've given everything you've got, and you come up short, that's hard. It's a tough pill to swallow."

M-E finished the season 19-3.
