(WBNG Binghamton) Vestal's Kristin Hickling and Union-Endicott's Sierra McIver sign their national letters of intent.
Hickling signed her national letter of intent to play softball at St. Bonaventure University.
The three-time All-Conference pitcher has spent five years on Vestal's Golden Bears varsity softball squad.
Last year, Hickling hit a career-high .533 batting average, and in 2011, she recorded a career best 1.54 earned run average.
She says she wanted to go to a school that was somewhat close to home and St. Bonaventure definitely fit the bill.
"It was really big. I was looking at a few schools that were really far, like some 9 hours away. I didn't really feel comfortable there. Its really nice to know I can come home on weekends," she says.
Hickling will go to school as an undecided major, but says she's learning toward getting her degree in communications.
Sierra McIver will continue her lacrosse career at the University of Albany.
A 3 year varsity starter with the Tigers, McIver is an offensive and defensive threat at the midfield position.
She says she chose Albany because it felt like a home away from home.
"The coaches, the team, I loved them all when I was there. They were great. The program is still good. I just love that campus. It felt like another home," says McIver.
She says she can't wait to come and play in front of family and friends when Albany travels to Vestal to take on Binghamton University.
McIver will major in education with the hopes of becoming a math teacher.
