Harpursville, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Two of the best high school girl's basketball players in Section IV will be attending and playing for the same school next season.
Harpursville's Miranda Drummond signed her letter of intent to play for St. Bonaventure next season. Drummond helped lead the Hornets to the Class C state finals last year.
Miranda said Wednesday was all about celebrating all the work it took to get to this point.
"I mean I've been working ever since I was little with my Dad," said Drummond. "I don't know, it feels amazing that all of my hard work has paid off and I'm going to go play basketball in college for free."
Drummond will be joined by Oneonta's Mariah Ruff at St. Bonaventure next season. Ruff also signed her letter of intent to play for the Bonnies on Wednesday.
Three U-E student-athletes declare their college intentions
Imagine growing up together, playing sports together for 18 years, and then making your college choices together with a crowd watching.
That was the scene at Union-Endicott on Wednesday as C.J. Krowiak, Matt Eastman and Alexis Eastman all declared where they'll play in college next season.
Matt Eastman has decided to play baseball at St. Bonaventure, while one of his best friends, Krowiak, is headed to play baseball at Binghamton University.
Those longtime friends are excited about the opportunity to be on opposite sides of the diamond sometime in the near future.
"It'll be awesome," said Eastman. "Whether it's him coming to play St. Bonaventure or me coming to Binghamton, I think it will be special playing against one of my best friends."
"It's going to be great," said Krowiak. "A little friendly competition. It'll be great to see him, see how he's doing in college and it should be fun."
Eastman's twin sister Alexis also made her college decision on Wednesday. She'll be heading up to Le Moyne College in Syracuse to play softball.
