Michael Schwartz joined the 12 News team in September 2016 as a Weeknight News Anchor/Sports Reporter.
A native of Bellmore, New York, in Long Island, Michael graduated from John F. Kennedy High School and is an active alumnus. A 2016 Ithaca College graduate, Michael graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Television/Radio and Journalism. Ithaca's Roy H. Park School of Communication is where Michael began his on-air endeavors. In just his third week Michael was reporting on Ithaca College Television, and went on to hold many roles within the station, including anchoring the main news and sports programs for multiple years. During his senior year Michael won a Syracuse Press Club Award for Best Student Sports Story.
During college he was fortunate enough to intern for ABC News, NBC during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games, The View, WSYR Sports and CBS' Entertainment Tonight/The Insider in Los Angeles where he worked as a production assistant at the 2015 Oscars.
He is a diehard Yankee, Giants and Islanders fan. While Michael has called the New York metro area his home for most of his life, he considers Central New York his second home, and is pleased to have the opportunity to be able to deliver stories to you each day through the television medium.
