TOWN OF UNION (WBNG) -- The Broome County Sheriff's Office says a dog that was stolen has now been returned to its rightful owner.
According to deputies, the one-year-old German Shepard named Rory was stolen between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The sheriff's office says the incident happened at a home on Squires Avenue in the Town of Union.
Police say a good samaritan spotted Rory running loose in the city of Binghamton. They were able to catch and hold Rory until the owner recovered her.
Police believe that whoever took her may have let her loose, knowing she was being sought.
No arrests have been made.
