Robotics competition lets Southern Tier students show off skills
TOWN OF DICKINSON (WBNG) -- The SUNY Broome Engineering Science and Physics Department held its seventh annual Southern Tier Robotics Competition Wednesday.
According to SUNY Broome, the competition gives Southern Tier high school and middle school students the opportunity to showcase their talent in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) while building and designing robots.
SUNY Broome says 160 students took part in six different events, which included robot challenges like line following and maze programming.
"It's important to see the different types of engineering and get some hands on experience with these things, a lot of mechanical work, and hands on work, but it's all important.", said Bryan Heller, a student at Chenango Forks.
Chenango Forks High School won the competition and received a trophy for their accomplishments.
