(WBNG) -- The Broome County District Attorney's Office says a teen pleaded guilty in court Thursday to aggravated cruelty to animals, a class E felony.
The Broome County Sheriff's Office arrested Kyle Corbin, 18, more than two weeks ago for killing his aunt's dog, throwing it in a creek and then claiming her home was burglarized.
The sheriff's office said deputies were called to a mobile home park at 2088 State Rt. 26 in the Town of Maine on April 3 for a reported burglary.
According to deputies, the victim stated there was a pool of blood on the carpet and her dog was missing.
The sheriff's office said an investigation found that her nephew had killed her small Chihuahua by stomping on it with his foot and then disposed of the dog by throwing it in the creek behind the trailer. He then called his aunt and stated the trailer had been burglarized, deputies said.
Corbin had been staying with his aunt for the last month from the state of Florida.
Sentencing has been scheduled June 13.
