BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The Veterans Affairs facility at 203 Court Street is more than twice the size of the previous location in the Greater Binghamton Healthcare Center.
The new building, opening to patients on Monday, also has several new programs for which veterans previously had to go to Syracuse to receive.
Some of those services include physical therapy, diagnostics, and mental healthcare.
Officials voiced that this upgrade is how the community can show respect and appreciation for the work brave men and women did to serve our country.
"Their heart is in it, they care. And you can feel it when you come in. You're not just a number, sit over there and we'll call you when we want you, they actually care about you," Frank Kelley of the Binghamton Marine Corps League said.
Organizers of Thursday's celebration said there are more than 4,300 Veterans in Broome County and the Southern Tier who utilize VA services.
