CHENANGO COUNTY (WBNG) – Two teens were pointing rifles at each other when one of the guns went off Thursday, according to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office.

A 17-year-old was shot in the shoulder by a 16-year-old. Authorities say the 17-year-old was taken to Community Memorial Hospital and released with minor injuries.

Now both teens from Smyrna face charges of reckless endangerment in the accidental shooting.

Sheriff's officials say both teens were released to their parents and will appear in Village of Smyrna Court at a later date.
