OWEGO (WBNG) -- 12 News will be live from the 37th annual Owego Strawberry Festival on Friday during our 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m. newscasts. We will take you behind the scenes for all the entertainment for as well as showcase the economic development across Tioga County.
As of now, the majority of the strawberries for the festival will come from Central New York.
"There may be some of our berries that make it to the festival at the 11th hour," said Frank Wiles, a local berry grower and owner of Our Green Acres. "But right now I cant look people in the eye and say we would have any quantity of berries to be picked prior to the festival."
12 News is also exploring the economic opportunities in Owego and Tioga County. More than $150 million in state funding has been spent in Tioga County in the passed few months.
In Nichols, Crown Holdings Inc., a global leader in metal packaging technology, was awarded $150 million for its facility. The investment will bring more than 160 new jobs by 2018. The facility official opened in April.
On Friday, we will showcase another multi-million dollar project happening in Owego.

An estimated 20,000 people are expected to be on hand this weekend in Owego.
The Strawberry Festival will take place Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
