TOWN OF DICKINSON (WBNG) -- The 28th annual Roadkill Rugby 7's Tournament kicked off Saturday morning at Ostiningo Park.
The Binghamton Barbarians rugby football club has been the local rugby team since 1973.
Saturday's rugby tournament was the first of the sevens season.
The sevens format has seven players per side instead of the normal 15, making the game a much quicker pace.
The Barbarians said its big rival is the Syracuse Chargers, who they'll play again in July.
Overall, the Barbarians said they look forward to the rest of the season
"You know were looking forward to just getting out and competing I think our team is growing and its going in the right direction and we really wan to establish ourselves as one of the top teams in New York State," Tournament Director Anthony Gaetani said.
The Barbarians also said a lot of its old teammates came out to support them today, and they are always looking for new players.
