Maine-Endwell's Crooks retires

Posted: Updated:

TOWN OF UNION (WBNG) - 12 Sports has confirmed that Maine-Endwell baseball coach Gary Crooks is retiring after 35 years as the Spartans head coach. Crooks won two state championships on the baseball field with Maine-Endwell, in 1990 in Class B and in 2008 in Class A.

Maine-Endwell's baseball field is already named in honor of Crooks. The field was a gift donated by Thomas Tull. The long-time baseball coach was also the defensive coordinator for the Maine-Endwell football team.

The Spartans baseball team fell in the Class A Section IV finals this year to the eventual New York state champions, Vestal.
