Oberste leads Ponies to series victory in Akron

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - Matt Oberste's RBI single in the eighth inning scored Champ Stuart to break a 2-2 tie and would prove to be the game-winning run for the Binghamton Rumbles Ponies in Akron Wednesday afternoon against the RubberDucks, final score 3-2. The Ponies won three-of-four games in Akron to expand its lead in the Eastern Division playoff race to 2-1/2 games. 

Oberste collected three hits in the game. He also scored twice. Stuart stole his Eastern League leading 30th bag of the season. He leads the Eastern League in steals by 11. 

On the mound, Corey Oswalt tossed six innings of one run baseball, striking out seven. 

Binghamton (56-44) returns to NYSEG Stadium for a four-game series against New Hampshire on Thursday. Robert Gsellman will pitch in relief for the Ponies Thursday night in a rehab assignment. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
