Ponies homer early, then shutout Seawolves

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - Binghamton homered twice in the first two innings and three pitchers combined to shutout Erie on Tuesday night at NYSEG Stadium and pick up their fourth straight victory, 3-0. Matt Oberste started the scoring with a RBI double in the first inning, scoring Juan Lagares. David Thompson and Champ Stuart each hit solo home runs in the second inning to put Binghamton up, 3-0. 

On the mound Corey Oswalt tossed six-and-two-thirds scoreless innings to pick up his ninth victory of the season. Cory Burns closed the door in the ninth to earn his 17th save. 

The victory is Binghamton eleventh in its past 14 games. The Rumble Ponies bullpen has combined for 15 straight scoreless innings. 

Binghamton (65-46) and Erie continue their three-game series at NYSEG Stadium on Wednesday night. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
