BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - The first round of 2017 DICK'S Sporting Goods Open tees off Friday, August 18. The field is stacked once again, headlined by Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, John Daly, among others.
At 59 years-old, Horseheads resident Joey Sindelar isn't exactly a favorite to take home the trophy, but he is always a fan-favorite in Endicott. This year on the PGA Tour Champions, Sindelar's best finish is tied for eleventh at the Senior PGA Championship. He owns two top 25 finishes and is currently ranked 56th in the Charles Schwab Cup standings. Regardless of his current position, the two-time B.C. Open Champion can't wait to play at En-Joie again.
"Just always one of the bright spots of my year," said PGA Tour Champions golfer Joey Sindelar. "Playing at home, staying at home. A golf course that I've played since seventh or eighth grade and (in) high school. Between junior tournaments and high school events, regular tour, and now champions tour. A chance, I say it every year but it continues to be true, it's a chance for me to have fun doing what I'm doing in front of the people that have cheered for me for forever."
