JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) -- The Johnson City community came together Saturday to shoot some hoops in the 6th annual Mase Madness Tournament. The tournament is to honor a little boy who passed away several years ago.

Ron and Kate McKan's infant son, Mason, died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in 2012. The McKan's hold the community basketball tournament every year in his honor.

Mason's mother says she is overwhelmed with the amount of support.

"It's turning into exactly what we hoped it would be," Kate McKan said. "It's really about the children and about the community coming together to celebrate kind of what we wish we could be watching what Mason could be doing."

Money raised goes toward the Mason P. McKan Benevolence Fund, which supports local youth by helping them achieve athletic and personal success.

The Mase Madness Tournament runs all weekend.
