World Chicken Spiedie Eating Contest winner sets new record
NICHOLS (WBNG) -- The pouring rain Saturday night didn't stop some of the best world eating champions from heading to Tioga Downs for the fourth annual World Chicken Spiedie Eating Contest.
Popular contenders Joey Chestnut and Matt Stonie went head-to-head for the chicken spiedie eating championship title.
Stonie ended being named champ, even beating his own world record by eating 25 and a half chicken spiedie sandwiches.
After his win, Stonie said he hope this is a sign of what's to come this year.
"I haven't had the best year on a competitive eating contest and stuff but this is my first big win against Joey Chestnut this year so hope to keep the ball rolling and have a great year," said Stonie.
Stonie went home with a grand prize of $2,000 and a chicken spiedie sandwich trophy.
