Epic Nerd Camp taking place this week

Posted: Updated:

STARUCCA P.A. (WBNG) – Epic Nerd Camp is a fandom-filled summer session with unique activities to bring people together.

People from around the country who love fantasies and science fiction will join together for a week in Starucca, Pennsylvania, packed with non-stop activities. Some of the activities include larping, which is a fantasy battle between two teams. Others include sword fighting, circus stunts, and even wizarding duels.

The Epic Nerd Camp began just last year, and this year, they have made improvements with location and the number of people to join. Even if people are not a fan of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or other types of tales, they can still partake in outdoor activities such as zip-lining, rock climbing, and more.

"They have a good time and there's nothing else like this, which is why it was so needed," said Epic Nerd Camp owner, Kim Kjessler.

Kjessler said she and the other directors are planning on expanding the camp all the way to the west coast where they hope to bring more people together for this common interest. The camp activities will continue throughout the rest of this week.
