ENDICOTT (WBNG) -- Rain in Endicott throughout Friday morning didn't stop the pros or the fans from making their way around En-Joie Golf Club for Round 1 of the DICK'S Sporting Goods Open.
Many were prepared and pulled their umbrellas out when they needed them.
There were showers on and off throughout the morning. Still fans spent the day walking around and set up in their lawn chairs for the best view.
Those in charge say they are working hard to keep people informed about the weather all weekend long.
"All the jumbotrons and led boards on the golf course will have updates," John Karedes, the DSGO Tournament Director, said. "Obviously again being a golf course if we have 25 thousand people here there isn't shelter for 25 thousand people so that's why were asking everyone use common sense, if you know a storm is coming, sit in your parking lot an extra 15 minutes before coming in, that type of thing"
While the golfers play through rain, if there are thunderstorms play is halted and people are ushered to safety.
