Back-to-back homers by Kaczmarski, Alonso fuel Binghamton win

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) -- Kevin Kaczmarski and Peter Alonso connected on back-to-back homers in the first inning to help lead the Binghamton Rumble Ponies to a 5-1 victory over Erie SeaWolves on Wednesday.

Kaczmarski hit a two-run shot before Alonso hit a solo shot that gave the Rumble Ponies a 3-0 lead.

The Rumble Ponies later tacked on a run in both the second and sixth innings. In the second, Luis Guillorme hit an RBI single, while Alonso hit a solo home run in the sixth.

Alonso hit a pair of solo homers in the win. Guillorme doubled and singled, scoring a run and also driving one home.

Binghamton right-hander Mickey Jannis (8-7) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on seven hits over 7 2/3 innings. Opposing starter Sandy Baez (0-1) took the loss in the Eastern League game after allowing four runs and five hits over five innings. P.J. Conlon pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings for his first save of the season.

With the win, Binghamton improved to 12-6 against Erie this season.
