BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - Binghamton Rumble Ponies starting pitcher Corey Oswalt has been named 2017 Eastern League Pitcher of the Year in his first season at the Double-A level. Oswalt is 11-5 with a 2.37 ERA in 23 starts for Binghamton. His 2.37 ERA leads the Eastern League. Oswalt is the fourth Binghamton pitcher to earn the award. Michael Fulmer was the most recent in 2015.
Oswalt also started the Eastern League all-star game and was named a postseason all-star by the league.
The San Diego, California native was a seventh round pick by the Mets in 2012. He is currently ranked as the 29th best prospect in the Mets' organization by MLB Pipeline.
Oswalt's final regular season start is Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Hartford Yard Goats.
