Posted: Updated:

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - Eastern League pitcher of the year, Corey Oswalt, was phenomenal again for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium. Oswalt took the ball for game one of the Eastern Division Championship Series against the Trenton Thunder and delivered seven innings of one-run baseball to lead the Ponies to victory, 4-1. The 24 year-old allowed just five hits and one walk, while striking out seven.

Binghamton trailed by one after the top of the first inning, but Peter Alonso gave the Ponies the lead in the bottom half with a two-RBI double, scoring Luis Guillorme and Kevin Kaczmarski. Leading 2-1 in the third, Matt Oberste delivered a two-RBI double of his own, scoring Alonso and Kevin Taylor, to give Binghamton a 4-1 lead.

The New York Yankees' Clint Frazier and Garrett Cooper combined to go one-for-six at the plate on rehab assignments with the Thunder.

Binghamton leads the best-of-five series, 1-0. Game two is set for Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium. First pitch at 6:35 p.m.
