Trenton throws combined no-hitter to beat Ponies in game three

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - The Trenton Thunder defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in game three of the Eastern Division Championship Series in Trenton, New Jersey on Friday night, 2-0. Two Trenton pitchers combined to no-hit the Ponies. Justus Sheffield started and threw four innings, allowing no hits, while walking two. Taylor Widener finished the no-hitter with five shutout innings, striking out seven. The Thunder now own a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series. 

Rehabbing New York Yankee Clint Frazier robbed L.J. Mazzilli of a base hit in the first inning with a diving grab. Then, Frazier drove in the first run of the game in the bottom of the first to give Trenton the lead. 

The game remained scoreless until the eighth inning when Trenton added an insurance run.

Binghamton and Trenton continue its best-of-five series Saturday night in Trenton at 7 p.m.
