October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month - and each year Traci's Hope holds a barbeque and motorcycle ride in honor of Traci Gibson.
In 1999 Traci was diagnosed with breast cancer. She raised thousands of dollars for research and then realized she was struggling to pay her own bills. She started Traci's Hope to help people in the area who are diagnosed with cancer. This money helps them pay their bills, get to and from treatment or doctor's appointments and more. Proceeds from the event will go to Traci's Hope to help these people.
Traci's Hope 14th Annual BBQ is Saturday, October 7 from 12 to 6 p.m. at the Apalachin Fairgrounds. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for kids 6 to 12. The 11th Annual Motorcycle Ride will be the same day at Rt 38 Bar and Grill on 3382 Rt. 38 in Owego. Registration is from 10:30 to noon. Ride leaves at 12:30 p.m. Riders are $15 and a passenger is $10. Both events are rain or shine. Call 642-5238 for more information.
