Police: Binghamton men facing felonies after loaded handgun found in car

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The Binghamton Police Department on Wednesday announced the arrest of two Binghamton men following a traffic stop in the city.

According to authorities, the Binghamton Police Community Response Team stopped a vehicle on the west side of Binghamton around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said during the stop, officers found a loaded Colt .22 caliber handgun and a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle.

Charges:

Idrees Walden, 20, Binghamton:

  • Criminal possession of a weapon, second degree, class C felony
  • Criminal possession of a weapon fourth degree, class A misdemeanor
  • Aggravated unlicensed operation, third degree, unclassified misdemeanor
  • Unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation

Quincy Velez, 25, Binghamton

  • Criminal possession of a weapon, second degree, class C felony
  • Criminal possession of a weapon fourth degree, class A misdemeanor
  • Unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation

Police said Walden and Velez were taken to Binghamton City Court for arraignment.
