DICKINSON (WBNG) -- The former Broome Developmental Center in the town of Dickinson is set to become a long-term drug treatment facility.
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar, State Senator Fred Akshar and State Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo joined local leaders and medical officials to announce that Syracuse Behavioral Healthcare has been selected to provide drug treatment services at the former Broome Developmental Center.
The campus, located on Glenwood Road in the town of Dickinson, is made up of 11 buildings, totaling around 400,000 square feet.
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar said the center is expected to add 70 good-paying jobs to the region.
The drug treatment center is scheduled to open in early 2018.
